Architecture for the planet Earth

An encounter with Michele de Lucchi to discuss his “Earth Stations” project, freely accessible multi-engagement spaces in which people can experience unprogrammed moments of learning, joy, interaction and reflection and somewhere to cultivate the field of potential ideas. The Earth Stations are imaginary buildings in which the knowledge of architecture is pushed to its maximum technological, aesthetic and functional potential to approach a sustainable vision of the future where well-being, health and happiness are within everyone’s reach. They respond to our evolving lifestyles: the introduction of digital technology and the advent of artificial intelligence platforms, once controlled, will save us from bureaucratic chores and give us free time to devote to human relationships, personal care, mindfulness and creativity. The Earth Stations are intended to be a tool for accelerating the evolutionary process and using imagination. They are not space stations to go to the Moon or Mars, but ones to stay here on planet Earth. They are freely accessible multi-engagement spaces where people can experience unprogrammed moments of learning, joy, interaction and reflection and somewhere to cultivate the field of potential ideas. They stem from the exploration of the humanistic qualities of architecture, which are influenced by sensory experiences rather than by technical and functional definitions: symbolic appeal and the ability to arouse emotions are the paradigms needed to attract, amaze, generate well-being and pleasure in the use of the environments.
